Loula Zaklama, 2006 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) President, handed over the IPRA presidency to Philip Sheperd from Belgium during a celebration held in Brussels last month. The same night saw Zaklama honored for her achievements in the public relations field throughout her term as IPRA president last year. She was the first Egyptian businesswoman to receive such a post and succeeded. She hosted the IPRA annual conference in Egypt in January 2006 - she was the one who brought the conference for the first time to Egypt in 2002. She has also modified the IPRA honorary convention with the agreement of all members. She also set a five-year plan to raise the awareness of the role of public relations and its importance.
