Chantal Chamandy concert to premiere in American TV
Published in Daily News Egypt on 12 - 03 - 2008

Following her remarkable performance at the Pyramids last September, Egyptian-Canadian singer/songwriter Chantal Chamandy is still making headlines.
Her trail of success and her promotion of the true image of Egypt went global with the worldwide television debut of "Beladi: Chantal Live at the Pyramids, which was broadcast on WLIW21 at the end of January.
She also made a live appearance at the WLIW21 studio where she discussed her music, the show, and the message of peace she wishes to convey to the world.
After its resounding success in January, the concerts will broadcast in the United States on public television in March. Chantal is also scheduled to embark on US nationwide tour from June to July 2008, including performances in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago and Miami; pending a high possibility of extending the tour due to overwhelming demand.
The inspiration behind the "Chantal Live at the Pyramids project was the artist's desire to shed a different light on Egypt and the Arab World, bridge the gap between Eastern and Western cultures through both differences and similarities, and stand tall and proud in the midst of her homeland and among her people.
In this essence, the concert was held at the Giza Pyramids, at the feet of the Great Sphinx; amid a spectacular lightshow illuminating the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the stage. The show was brought to life thanks to the remarkable efforts of French director Gérard Pullicino, choreographer Genevieve Dorion-Coupal, and stage-designer Guy St-Amour. The concert also featured the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Cairo Opera House Ballet Company.
