Lifestyle Highlight: And All that Jazz
Published in Daily News Egypt on 12 - 03 - 2010

I will let my newest secret out of the bag because I am generous and really hope to see this place become alive: The Supper Club at the Fairmont Nile City hotel on the Maspero Corniche is the most charming little place to open up in Cairo recently.
In the words of a friend, "It's very 'Gossip Girl.' He is of course referencing the American TV show series that has both tweens and adults wistfully dreaming of living like the series' characters: young New York socialites living it up with style and excessive displays of decadence.
But a little decadence and old school style never hurt anyone in Cairo, particularly when considering they're few and far between.
The Supper Club is to be found just off the lobby of the hotel. But don't be fooled. It is a champagne and sushi bar, with a beautiful series of glass shelves displaying champagnes in every shade of beige and rosé.
Velvet armchairs in purple and white, crystal chandeliers in modern rectangular shapes, and incredibly high ceilings make The Supper Club a great place for early evening drinks and a light meal of sushi.
But best of all is the jazz duet of singer Carrie Gibson and pianist Joe Bashorun. Bashorun's talent at the keys paired with Gibson's spirited voice take you a little bit away from where your mind is.
