Egyptian lawyer Ahmed Abdelsalam al-Roety filed three reports against satirist Bassem Youssef, accusing him of causing tension between Egypt and Pakistan after a skit he did that poked fun of President Mohamed Morsi receiving an honorary degree from a Pakistani university. In the reports, Youssef is also accused of mocking prayer and insulting the general attorney on his comic show Al-Bernameg, or “The Program,” on the satellite television channel CBC. The charges of insulting the general attorney's office came after Youssef tweeted that the police officers and a lawyer working for the GA wanted to take a picture with him. Youssef wrote “Maybe this is why they called me here.” Youssef is currently under investigation over charges of insulting Islam and Egypt's president, in the latest government effort to silence opposing media people. He was released on 15,000 Egyptian pounds bail pending trial.
