Joseph Farah: Gay marriage like “child sacrifice”
Published in Bikya Masr on 06 - 03 - 2013

Virulent conservative and CEO of World Net Daily Joseph Farah has left the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in shock after linking marriage equality to child sacrifice in a recent editorial.
In an editorial, Farah wrote: “The Conservative Political Action Conference is for conservatives – not for people who seek to undermine the Judeo-Christian basis of Western civilization with one of the most radical ideas considered since child sacrifice.”
The statement has shocked even the most hardened activist, including Amet, a Ghana-born gay man living in London, told Bikyanews.com on Wednesday evening. “It is really shocking that gay people getting married is the same as child sacrifice in his eyes.
“It really shows how far we still have to go in order to get people to stop being so crazy,” he added.
Farah's editorial comes as a number of Republicans have publicly stated they would support marriage equality, saying it was “the right thing” to do.
“The document will be submitted this week to the Supreme Court in support of a suit seeking to strike down Proposition 8, a California ballot initiative barring same-sex marriage, and all similar bans. The court will hear back-to-back arguments next month in that case and another pivotal gay-rights case that challenges the 1996 federal Defense of Marriage Act,” he wrote.
The Obama administration last Thursday filed another brief at the Supreme Court in the White House's push to urge the Supreme Court to rule that voters in California could not vote to ban same-sex marriage.
For activists, Farah is becoming more and more in the minority, and should have little clout in the coming years.
“I think his kind is moving away and won't be an issue soon,” added Amet.
