Hindus have welcomed Spain's reported return invitation to Sephardic Jews' descendants after over 500 years when they fled due to persecution. Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commented that it was a “step in the right direction, although a very late one" for Spain who at last was trying to rediscover herself. Finally Spain was able to search her soul and undertake what was just. Spain should simplify and fast-track the procedure and include those descendants also who converted to other religions over the centuries, Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, added. Rajan Zed further said that Spain should extend the invitation to other communities also who were expelled from Spain during Inquisition. BN
