CAIRO: The United States Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens has been reportedly killed in the attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi on Tuesday. The Libyan interior ministry reported that he had been killed in the violent attack Tuesday evening along with three other embassy staffers. It was not immediately clear whether he had been in his vehicle or inside the consulate at the time of the violence. Reuters news agency reported the news, citing a Libyan official. The violence sparked after angry protests erupted after an anti-Islam film began to make its rounds on social media websites last week that depicted the Prophet Mohamed as a pedophile, promoting violence and alleging he was a sex addict. Another protest on Tuesday in Cairo was non-violent, but a few protesters scaled the outer wall of the embassy in the Egyptian capital and tore down the American flag.
