DUBAI: To boost access to food during Ramadan, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation said on Sunday that it will deliver some 1.7 million Iftar meals to over 600 Emirati families during the holy month of fasting. Iftar is the meal the breaks the sunrise to sunset fast during the Islamic month of fasting, set to begin in July. “This is the sixth consecutive year the Foundation is implementing the project of serving hot meals to help the poor and needy during the Holy month,” it said in a statement published by the official WAM news agency. The Foundation added that it is an “innovative initiative on the national level to task the Emirati families with the preparation of food, so they also get help as well as the opportunity to participate in the charity works.” The Foundation will announce further details of the Iftar Program 2012 at a press conference to be held on Monday.
