KL's Central Market to host animation, cartoon exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur is to host a cartoon and animation exhibition beginning June 23 at the city's Central Market.
The exhibition will give space to animators and illustrators to show off their skills during the two-day festival.
Titled Anda, the exhibition is to bring scores of the country's best animators under one area. The Central Market is the location for the event in the center of the city and home to a history of art and culture.
Prime Minister Najib Razak is to officiate the event.
There will also be a session on June 24 for the artists to meet and talk with the PM.
Kelab Putra 1Malaysia president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the event was to acknowledge the work of cartoon and animation artists, who often go unappreciated.
“Not many people realize that cartoonists and animators play a very important role in the entertainment we enjoy every day,” he said, adding that 300 artists who are members of various cartoonist and animator associations in the country have been invited to participate, but the event is open to all.
“All cartoonists and animators, young or old, new or veteran, even those who just like drawing, are invited to join us.
“We will also be giving awards to deserving contributors to the industry and are in the process of shortlisting recipients.”
