LAGOS: The company behind the BlackBerry solution, Research In Motion will be reaching out to African developers at the Mobile Web West Africa event in Lagos next week. The conference, which will take place April 24th through 26th at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, will cater to the entire range of individuals involved in the West African mobile sector. The event includes the two-day Mobile West Africa conference and a separate day, which is being hosted by BlackBerry, dedicated exclusively to the development of applications for mobile phones. The ambitious plans are designed to build on the massively successful 2011 edition and further establish as the leading mobile-focused conference in the region. This was disclosed in a statement by the company on Monday. It stated that end-users and developers would be able to network with BlackBerry representatives and spokespeople, and ask any questions about the BlackBerry solution. The statement said people who were interested in learning more about developing apps for the BlackBerry platform would be able to access first-hand information from RIM's technical experts. To this end, the Senior Operations Manager, RIM, Lelany Sommers, would talk about the African mobile revolution in her presentation and participate in a panel discussion at the conference. The statement said Sommers' presentation would focus on the opportunity the African mobile market represented, highlight key trends developers should consider when they create apps, discuss the challenge of monetizing apps, and provide some principles of building the future of apps.
