NEW DELHI: The arrest of an Indian national deported from America on charges of holding a fake passport, has led the Delhi police to bust multi-state human trafficking racket and the arrest two people. According to the police, the human trafficking gang was busted after one Pavinder Singh hailing from the state of Haryana, close to New Delhi, confessed to the police that his trip to the USA was arranged by two agents Amarjeet Singh Multani and Vishal Marwah for a fee of Rs 22-lakh. While Pavinder was arrested on February 16,the two human trafficking agents were busted only on Friday, giving police a huge breakthrough in the case. “Both the agents had been absconding since then. Raids were later conducted at their residences and non-bailable warrants were issued against them,” R A Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport said. The duo was finally arrested by a team of police officials attached to the IGI Airport. Police say they will now prosecute Amarjeet in all the five cases of human trafficking that they believe he is involved in. Amarjeet has a criminal history and has been previously arrested in 2004. The other accused who has been arrested, Vishal, is also believed to be involved in a passport racket, with over 105 passports being recovered from him. “Further probe of the case is under progress. Both the accused were produced in Dwarka Court. While Vishal was remanded to judicial custody, Amarjeet has been remanded to police custody for a day,” Sanjeev said. Many Indians wishing to go to the USA, but unable to do so legally, or plainly ignorant of the norms, fall in the hands of these agents who help them get into the USA to work as illegal laborers for a hefty sum, which many often not so affluent people are willing to pay.
