CAIRO: National unity between Egypt's Muslims and Christians is deeply-rooted, says Grand Sheikh of al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayyeb, noting that both sects had integrated in the same melting pot early on in the history of Egypt. The Egyptian people have always overcome hardships and Egypt, with the help of its citizens, will recover from the shortcomings that followed the Revolution, Tayyeb believes. What is happening in Egypt is a natural development of any Revolution, he assured in a meeting with acting Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church Bishop Pachomius, this week. For his part, Pachomius was thankful to Muslims for their supportive stance after the death of Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria. It proved, yet again, strong and deeply-rooted relations between the Egyptian people, Pachomius said.
