Nigeria's TracknShield Limited unveils solution to tackle mobile phone theft
Published in Bikya Masr on 26 - 03 - 2012

LAGOS: Nigeria's TracknShield Limited, a technology firm in Lagos, has developed a mobile phone anti-theft solution to tackle mobile phone theft in the country.
Abu Grema, the Managing Director of TracknShield Limited recently unveiled this application.
He said that the mobile phone tracking application is easy-to-use and it will combat the problems of mobile phone theft and loss and offers the possibility of even recovering lost or stolen phones.
According to him, the application was introduced as a result of the growing percentage of mobile phone users and its importance to them. He further stated that mobile phones are now used for a number of business transactions involving cash, therefore it is important for such data to be protected.
Explaining the use of the application, Grema said once installed on a phone, the TracknShield would make it possible for the owner of the phone to trace its whereabouts through a text message if it goes missing. He added that even if the SIM card in the phone was removed, the software would also make it possible for the phone to be traced and also prevent the use of a new SIM card in the stolen or lost phone.
Grema disclosed that this is a necessary solution as the SIM card registration exercise introduced in Nigeria had not completely tackled this pressing problem.
