CAIRO: Egypt's National Security Forces, or State Security, announced on Wednesday night that it had foiled an attempt to carry out terrorist acts “against foreign vessels passing through the Suez Canal,” by an organization consisting of two persons from the Ismailiya Governorate. A security source at the Ministry of Interior told Egypt's state-run MENA news agency that the security forces were able to thwart the plot to target the waterway of the Suez Canal by attacking foreign vessels. The source added that secret investigations led to arresting the leaders of this terrorist cell, in the area of Sheikh Zayed in Ismailiya. The Supreme State Security authority has decided the detain the two suspects for 15 days pending investigation.
