TEL AVIV (dpa) – An Israeli soldier shot dead a Palestinian on Thursday and wounded another, during an alleged stabbing attack in a village south of the West Bank city of Hebron, the Israeli military said. The soldier was injured in the neck by the stabbing, and was taken to hospital. The incident occurred when the soldiers were carrying out a search and arrest operation in Yatta, looking to seize Khaled Makhamra, who was freed in October in a prisoner swap between Israel and Hamas. Israeli media reported that Makhamra was wanted in connection with smuggling and transferring money to Palestinian militant organizations.
