Ghana's Saya mobile launches Africa's answer to WhatsApp, Saya!

LAGOS: Saya Mobile, Ghanaian mobile messaging technology company, has revealed its new product Saya, which can be described as Africa's answer to Whatsapp. Saya is intended to make sending messages fun to users at a low cost rate. The Chief Executive Officer, Robert Nii Lante Lamptey stated that, the mobile App was created to leverage on existing mobile technology like SMS to deliver a mobile messaging service that will be far cheaper than the current cost of SMSHe added that, Saya is 1000 times cheaper than SMS, as it brings to mobile users a chat application that will enable them stay in touch with their phone contacts by sending unlimited messages and images to them at a relatively cheaper cost compared to using SMS.
Badu Boahen Amankwaa who is the Chief Technology Officer also disclosed that Saya has been designed for all categories of mobile phone users stressing that the application can work on some of the lower end phones. Badu said that, Saya makes it possible for mobile phone users to chat with their Facebook contacts and join in a location based chat with other people around a user's location- this feature he added is called ‘Street Chat'.
