CAIRO: The State Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Faiza Abul Naga, held a meeting with the new ambassador of the European Union to Cairo, James Moran, where they discussed the field of support allocated by the European Commission for support of the Egyptian economy, as well as ways to promote and strengthen economic ties between the two sides. The minister stressed during her talks with Moran the importance of developing bilateral relations between Egypt and the EU, especially in the areas of agriculture, transport, small and medium industries, and technical education and vocational training, pointing out that Egypt can benefit from the European expertise in those areas and so as to push the priorities of the Egyptian government in the current transition period. They also discussed the portfolio of cooperation between Egypt and the EU within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy, and reviewed the joint projects between the two sides in the sectors of energy, education and vocational training and water allocated in the national indicative program. It should be noted that the portfolio of cooperation between the Egyptian government and the European Union amounted to about 449.5 million Euros for the years 2011 to 2013, in the form of refundable grants to support the plans and priorities of the Egyptian government development Programs.
