CAIRO: Convoys mobilized by the UAE Red Crescent have started to spread across the Jordanian districts bordering Syria taking the relief assistance to the displaced Syrians who have fled their country in the wake of the escalations there. Volunteers working for the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) are on ground in various Jordanian regions carrying out humanitarian work to alleviate the sufferings of Syrian refugees. In the first phase of the relief work, the RCA distributed over six thousand parcels containing essential food items which will suffice for the next couple of months in the makeshift camps. The convoys had set out from Jordan's capital Amman early this week. The initiative is part of the RCA's intensified efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering of the Syrian refugees whose number was estimated by Jordanian authorities at 75,000 with the possibility of more to come within the next few days.
