DUBAI: A car bomb has exploded at the gates of the Jalalabad airport in eastern Afghanistan Monday, causing a number of casualties, officials said. A city police official said the blast caused civilian casualties but he did not have confirmation of the total. NATO said explosion occurred near a military base at the airport, but caused no damage to installations or personnel. Jalalabad is the capital of Nangarhar province near the border with Pakistan. No group has yet to take responsibility for the attack and police are currently investigating the incident.
