DUBAI: Bahrain medical sources confirmed the death of 6 Bahraini women on Saturday evening in a traffic accident off a highway after their driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a wall. Five of the young women died at the site of the crash and the sixth later at the Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain's largest hospital, Gulf News reported. Police at the scene were reported to have said that the young women's car skidded off the highway and rammed into the wall of a villa under construction. The wet road, the lack of experience and high speed may have been crucial factors in the accident that killed two sets of sisters and the other two riders, the police said. Road accidents in Bahrain, although not as numerous as other Middle Eastern countries, have risen in recent years as riders continue to not wear seat belts and speed beyond the limits of the road.
