SINGAPORE: Malaysia's Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said on Thursday the country was moving forward on plans to extradite an Iranian man suspected of being involved in a series of blasts in Thailand's capital Bangkok last week. Hussein said that at his urging Thai authorities had requested the extradition of Masoud Sedaghat Zadeh, 31. “I would like to have him extradited as soon as possible,” he told reporters. “However, since he is not a Thai national, we have to go through a process.” Malaysian immigration agents detained Masoud on February 15 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport as he was about to leave for Iran. Thai authorities have said they want the suspect to be deported back to Bangkok to face charges in connection with the explosions. Israeli officials have said they suspect a link between the February 14 blasts in Bangkok and two incidents in Georgia and India the previous day, which they said were attacks by Iranian agents on its diplomats in those two countries. Both Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah, accused by Tel Aviv of the attacks, have denied involvement in the explosions that were directed at Israeli diplomats.
