CAIRO: Egypt's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, demanded on Monday the formation of a national consensus government, criticizing the performance of the current government of the Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri, and said it failed to address the economic and worsening security crises. The FJP, which holds more than 40 percent of seats in parliament explained in a statement that Egypt “continues to suffer from these worsening crises, which led to the continuous suffering of Egyptians who did not witness any change or improvement in living conditions despite a year after the revolution.” It also comes as resentment and public anger at parliament's inaction in recent violence clashes in downtown Cairo and subsequent dealings with the military have left the country on edge. “Perhaps this continued decline in the performance of the Government makes the party emphasizes the call for the need to form a national consensus government that reflects the choices of the Egyptian people in the last parliamentary elections, a government that comes in harmony with people's desire for reform and change,” the FJP added in their statement. The statement pointed out that the steps taken by the Minister of the Interior to purge the ministry from police officers loyal to the former Minister of Interior Habib el-Adli and the dissolved state security Apparatus, “does not reflect the state of anger sweeping the masses which consider the security performance as weak and deteriorating.” The statement emphasized that the increased crime rates and the spread of armed organized gangs, and abductions, supports the party`s calls “for purging the Ministry of Interior, which requires the presence of radical solutions for the treatment of security problems.” The statement called for granting the opportunity for many of the “noble security leaders, who are keen on the security and stability of Egypt and the reform of the security system in earnest, to conduct the required purging as soon as possible.” The party rejected loans from the World Bank, and said, “there are many financial resources can be relied upon before resorting to receiving foreign loans from the World Bank or any other.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/UzGO5 Tags: featured, FJP, Government, MB Section: Egypt, Latest News
