CAIRO: Etisalat Group chairman Mohammad Omran, addressed the TEDx on Monday in Libya's capital, Tripoli. The conference is considered to be the first of its kind following the revolution in the country. Omran was speaking as part of the delegation alongside several important board members of Etisalat. Etisalat has a large base in North Africa, with Egypt's third mobile operator, and has made clear its intention to invest across the African continent. Etisalat is the primary sponsor of the conference and reportedly shared the opening session with Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur and the Libyan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Aref Ali Nayed. Ousama Abushagur, a telecommunications engineer who played a large part in masterminding a telephone network for rebels during Libya's revolution, and co-founder of TEDx Tripoli said: “We are excited to organize the first international TEDx in Libya and we are looking forward to the presentation of Chairman Omran.
