CAIRO: The Supreme Guide of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Badie called on all national political forces to urgently convene a conference entitled “Dialogue for Egypt” in order to discuss the current pressing issues in the country and how to find resolutions for the current crisis. It comes as protesters and police continue to battle in central Cairo near the ministry of interior. Police is firing tear gas, birdshot and rubber bullets into the crowd of protesters, who are demanding an end to military rule over the country. Badie said in a televised speech that the massacre of Port Said, “could not pass without a trial of the culprits,” and said that “many crimes during the transitional period passed without punishing anyone and that Egyptians did not take revenge for their martyrs yet.” He called for holding the perpetrators of the massacre at the stadium in Port Said, which left 75 dead and hundreds injured, “accountable politically and criminally and anyone responsible as soon as possible; because covering up the crimes of murder cannot be accepted.” He stressed, that these events show the escalation of the security chaos to a “large extent and that the police are reluctant to perform its duty and play its essential role,” calling for the accountability of all “negligence in the Ministry of Interior and purging it and the accountability of the Minister of Interior and to take urgent measures to provide security.” He called for the referral of former president Hosni Mubarak, ousted in 2011 after a popular uprising, to Tora prison immediately, and to “expedite the trial and just punishment of the former regime's figures.” He held the military junta responsible for the events in Port Said, and also the governor of Port Said for not taking all measures to “prevent the occurrence of the massacre.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/ft3vo Tags: Badie, MB, Protests, SCAF Section: Egypt, Latest News
