Tunisian officials seize dozens of Ben Ali clan properties, yachts

Paris (dpa) – Tunisian authorities have seized 48 yachts or fishing vessels, 34 cars and 233 properties belonging to ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and his clan, the country's TAP news agency quoted a government official as saying Thursday evening.
A senior official in the State Property Ministry said they had seized 117 stakes in companies as well as two properties belonging to Marouane El Mabrouk, Ben Ali's son-in-law.
Ben Ali was swept from power in January 2011 in the first revolution of the Arab Spring. He and his wife, Leila Trabelsi, fled into exile in Saudi Arabia.
France Info public radio quoted his Lebanese lawyer, Akram Azoury, as saying the seizures were illegal and that Ben Ali would challenge the measure at the UN Human Rights Committee.
