We now know all the teams that will compete in the finals of Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine next summer. On Tuesday the last places were sealed with Ireland returning to the finals along with Croatia, the Czech Republic and Portugal. Croatia 0-0 Turkey Aggregate: 3-0 Croatia Advances Guus Hiddink's Turkey side crashed out of the Euro play-offs after failing to beat Croatia by more than three goals. The first leg saw Croatia dominate 3-0 which put Turkey in a huge hole for the second leg. Croatia looked more likely to add to their aggregate total as Turkey did not offer much of a response. Turkey officials and Hiddink decided to part ways after failing to qualify. “After negotiations between Guus Hiddink and the Turkish Football Federation's board of directors, an agreement has been reached to terminate Guus Hiddink's contract by mutual consent,” a statement on the official TFF website read. Montenegro 0-1 Czech Republic Aggregate: 0-3 Czech Republic Advances The Czechs moved on to the Euro 2012 finals with a 1-0 win against Montenegro. The Czechs were in a comfortable position after their first leg 2-0 victory but nothing was assured coming into Tuesday's match. Neither side could convert their scoring opportunities for most of the match. In the 81st Petr Jiracek fired into the bottom left corner and finished off Montenegro for good. Ireland 1-1 Estonia Aggregate: 5-1 Ireland Advances Ireland will be playing in the finals of the European Championships after 24 years thanks to a dominating first leg performance and a 1-1 draw in the second leg against Estonia. Having done much of their work in the 4-0 first encounter Ireland were sitting pretty. Stephen Ward tallied for the Irish in the 32nd and Estonia got a consolation goal in the 56th from Konstatin Vassilijev. Ireland dominated throughout and looked as though they would make things much worse for the visitors early on. In the end Ireland did not need any extra insurance against an underwhelming Estonia side. Portugal 6-2 Bosnia-Herzegovina Aggregate: 6-2 Portugal Advances It took only eight minutes for Cristiano Ronaldo to do what he could not do in all 90 minutes of the previous encounter, score. Ronaldo delivered a brilliant free kick which dipped over the Bosnia wall from thirty yards out and found its way into the back of the net. The early goal was a sign of things to come for Ronaldo and Portugal. In the 23rd Manchester United winger Nani put Portugal up by two from a thunderous strike from a similar distance as Ronaldo's goal. His long-range blast caught Bosnia keeper Asmir Begovic slightly out of position and snuck under the cross bar to give an emphatic start to the decisive second leg. Bosnia would pull one back in the 41st from a Zvjezden Misimovic penalty but Portugal responded through another Ronaldo strike. The Madrid winger collected a pass near midfield and beat the offside trap and took off toward goal. He faked Begovic and finished on the empty goal to keep outpacing the visitors. Bosnia did not go away however after Emir Spahic notched another for the away side. But with a brace from Helder Postiga in the 72nd and 82nd along with a Miguel Veloso goal Portugal were run away winners. The draw for the groups of Euro 2012 will take place on December 2. BM
