Anon exposes child pornography ring
Published in Bikya Masr on 28 - 10 - 2011

AnonOps, an online blog dedicated to news relating to Anonymous activities, has reported that a member of Anonymous has managed to hack into a child pornography ring known as Lolita City.
Anonymous (Anon) is a term used to describe an anonymous movement of hackers. Anon has no official structure and is known for spreading what many have termed as ‘civil disobedience.'
The Anon in question embarked on what has been called Operation Darknet, an attempt by possibly several Anon to locate, identify and expose child pornography rings on the net. Operation Darknet saw over 40 websites dedicated to child pornography hacked into and exposed last week. The names of the members have been put on the internet as well.
On Tuesday, the Anon infiltrated a darknet website used by pedophiles to trade in child pornography. Anon has released usernames and other information of more than 1,500 pedophiles associated with these websites.
A darknet website is a closed private network of computers which are used for file sharing. Darknet websites are part of what has been coined the Invisible Web. The Invisible Web is part of the World Wide Web, but is not indexed by search engines. Darknet servers are often used for illegal activities as they are not easily found.
In total, more than 100 Gigabytes of child pornography associated with Lolita City has been identified.
