CAIRO: At least 15 students were injured after the Dean of Mansoura University ran them over with his car on Saturday after they were protesting for his resignation. The students were part of a growing movement on campus demanding transparency and change. The students were rushed to a local hospital with various injuries, rights activists reported. Hundreds of students protested early Saturday against the dean, saying he is “corrupt and affiliated with the old regime.” Across Egypt, activists have been demanding the removal of officials associated with the ousted government of former President Hosni Mubarak. The deans of the medical school and the school of humanities were also reportedly in the vehicle and had been talking with the students, according to eyewitnesses. While the students surrounded the car trying, in an effort to prevent it from leaving the driver stepped on the gas and hit scores of them. BM
