CAIRO: Egypt and Argentina are looking to link up for a friendly match in the near future, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Friday. The two-time World Cup champions Argentina requested the match against three-time defending African champions Egypt, but a date for the match has not been set. “We have received an invitation to play Argentina in a friendly game,” Azmy Megahed told Egypt's al-Ahram newspaper. “The match's date has not been determined yet, but it is expected to be held sometime following our match against Brazil on November 14.” Egypt and Argentina played in 2008 following Egypt's African Cup of Nations championship in Ghana, where the South American giants won 2-0. “We are likely to accept Argentina's offer, given their calibre. They are a high-profile team like Brazil,” Megahed added. Megahed was also reported to have said that Serbia were interested in playing Egypt, who recently missed out on a place in next year's Cup finals in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. New American coach Bob Bradley will make his sideline debut as Egypt's boss during next month's friendly against five-time world champions Brazil in Qatar. BM
