CAIRO: American film star and activist Sean Penn was spotted in Tahrir square early Friday in a surprise appearance. Penn was seen waving the Egyptian flag, touring Tahrir square alongside Egyptian actor Khaled al-Nabawy. Penn, a two-time Academy Award winner, an activist and an open critic of the American foreign policy told reporters he was here to “support the Egyptian uprising.” He added that the struggle is “not over” and showed his admiration of the Egyptian people for their uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule in February. Thousands of Egyptians flocked to the iconic square to take part in the “Friday to Reclaim the Revolution” demonstration. Numbers continues to increase as more people joined the demonstration that calls for an end to emergency law and a transfer of power to a civilian power. BM
