CAIRO: Egypt fell two more spots to number 36 in the latest FIFA monthly rankings. The Pharaohs had reached the top ten, but a poor run over the past two years has seen them stumble to the second-highest African nation in the rankings. Still searching for a manager, Egypt, who are currently headed by Hany Ramzy's Olympic team, were beaten 2-1 by Sierra Leone earlier this month in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, ending the slim chance of advancing they had. The winners of three-successive African Cup of Nations are to be led by American coach Bob Bradley, succeeding Hassan Shehata, who failed to take the team to the 2012 African Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Egypt is still the highest ranking Arab team in the FIFA rankings, ahead of North African rivals Algeria (46), Morocco (59) and Tunisia (61). They are the second team in Africa, behind Ivory Coast, ranked 16th, and one place above Ghana. World and European champions, Spain, regained the top spot in the rankings after the Netherlands topped the standings last month. BM
