CAIRO: In what seems to be the latest incident on the Israeli-Egyptian border crisis, missiles launched from within Gaza have landed in the eastern portion of the town of Rafah on Sunday morning, according to an Egyptian military source. Earlier on Sunday the sources confirmed that the missiles were fired in error. Conflicting reports on the issue have stated by Egyptian and Israeli local media. According to Youm7.com, 8 missiles landed in Rafah, while the Jerusalem Post reported only two. No confirmed injuries or deaths have been reported. The amount of rockets fired into Israel from Gaza has been confirmed to be more than 80 since Friday. The latest strikes have left one confirmed dead and many citizens wounded or in shell shock. The system in place responsible for deflecting these attacks is known as the Iron Dome. Israel's air strikes on Gaza also continued over the weekend, killing tens of Palestinians in the Mediterranean territory. The Israeli police are urging its citizens to remain indoors and to await instructions from the IDF. The Iron Dome defense system has been operational since late March this year and reported its first intercepted missile on April 7. Since then, the Iron Dome has had many successful intercepts and the system is easily relocatable to the most needed areas. BM
