Published in Bikya Masr on 17 - 06 - 2011

HP inaugurated its new offices in Cairo's Smart Village on Wednesday with the country's Minister of Communication and Information Technology Maguid Osman and other leaders of the growing sector present. It is part of HP's continued efforts to expand into Egypt and the surrounding region.
The opening was hosted by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and aimed to highlight the stability of the Egyptian economy, development of Egypt's ICT sector that continues to attract international investment.
Egypt's economy has been hit with a number of pitfalls since a protest movement ousted the former government in February. But the ICT sector appears to be getting back on its feet fast and is continuing to push forward on new investments.
“The expansion of HP's operations in Egypt is a statement of a strengthening partnership and willingness of long-term investment in the future of Egypt's young population,” said Osman at the opening.
“We support the establishment of the Enterprise Services Global Delivery Center, a project which is in line with our outsourcing/off-shoring strategies. Young Egyptian professionals work in this industry have a proven track record of delivering to expectations, and more importantly, they are the true creators of value-add exported out of Egypt.”
“We are glad to have HP join leading local and international technology firms at Smart Village. Development of such technology parks are successful models of fruitful partnerships that can be established between the public-private sectors for the growth of the country,” said Yasser El-Kady, CEO, ITIDA. “They are designed to offer a hassle free business environment through which creativity, innovation and business development are enhanced.”
“We are honored to have such an auspicious opening to our Smart Village premises,” added Eyad Shihabi, Managing Director and Enterprise Business Lead, HP Middle East. “HP has been active in Egypt since May 2000 and is the market leader for enterprise, small and medium business and consumer technology products. The investment into our new premises, increasing staff strength and growth is a testament to our commitment to the Egyptian people and the country.”
