A Canadian company is launching an SMS lottery in Kenya for a chance to win a number of prizes, including gaming software. Montreal-based Amaya Gaming Group Inc. is behind the most technologically advanced lottery in Kenya. The initial drawing took place last Thursday, February 17, the country's approximately 20-million mobile phone users can now send SMS text messages with specific keywords for their chance to win daily prizes or a grand prize of 30-million KSh (Kenyan Shillings, about $360,410 Canadian) to be announced on April 30, 2011. Winners will also be notified via SMS text message in what Amaya said in a release is just the first step in the company's long-term plans for Kenya. BM
