CAIRO: More former ministers and prominent businessmen are prevented from leaving Egypt after additional travel ban orders were issued on Wednesday by Egypt's Attorney General, Abdel Meguid Mahmoud. Several former ministers were already banned from traveling and have had their assets frozen pending preliminary investigations. Former Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, who was replaced by Ahmed Nazif in 2004; former minister of culture Farouk Hosni; and the former head of Egyptian State TV, Osama el-Sheikh, are the latest members of Mubarak's regime to face the travel ban decisions by the Attorney General, and their role will come under scrutiny. Ebeid headed the government which was the sponsor of the privatization project, which oversaw the orchestration of this project, and was considered by Egyptians as highly corrupt. Ebeid also served as Mubarak`s financial advisor.
