CAIRO: An anonymous source or unknown group hacked the fan page of Gamal Mubarak, the Secretary General of the Policies Committee of the National Democratic Party (NDP), who is also rumored to be the leading candidate to succeed his father Hosni Mubarak for president. On Sunday morning, the Facebook reported someone had changed the contents of the electronic signatures on the campaign to support the younger Mubarak for “President of Egypt in 2011.” The hackers replaced the picture with the slogan “yes to Gamal Mubarak” with another carrying the slogan “you are unwanted, you and your Father.” The hackers also wrote, “the inciter of the revolution of the theft and looting of the resources of Egypt,” in reference to Mubarak`s supporters' campaign. Instead of “the renewal of revolution in Egypt,” the hackers turned all the comments page to terms such as “no to bequeathal of power … and yes to change.” Shortly after the page was hacked, the founders of the page “yes to Gamal Mubarak,” sent a message to the members, saying “the e-mail of the campaign was subjected to technical problems because of the large number of emails sent. Please do not send messages to this email until the re-launch of the campaign's page,” according to reports in a number of local Egyptian news websites. BM
