CAIRO: The Cup of African Nations will change back to being played in odd years after the Confederation of African Football's Executive Committee met on Saturday in Cairo. The decision means that Libya will host the tournament in 2013, after it had previously accepted host-status for a 2014 tournament. The committee, headed by the CAF President Issa Hayatou, also lifted a ban on Togo, meaning the small African nation could participate in future international football tournaments and matches. Thus, Africa will see CAN tournaments in 2015 and 2017, the committee said. “The Executive Committee has confirmed the change the of year the Africa Cup of Nations from 2014 back to 2013 following the CAF President visit in Libya in March this year,” a statement from the CAF said. “The Libyan football association has accepted hosting the tournament in 2013 in order to allow CAF to organize the tournament in odd years. In the next coming weeks, the national association will be receiving bidding documents for both the 2015 and 2017 editions of the Africa cup of Nations,” the statement added. Libya has been granted also the right to host CHAN 2014. BM
