Chairman of al-Gamaa al-Islamiya's ‘Building and Development' Party, Safwat AbdelGhany, said on Thursday that his party will run for parliament via an election alliance that groups Islamist parties including al-Asala, al-Watan and al-Raya, among others. AbdelGhany added to Aswat Masriya that the alliance will not include the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party or the Salafi (ultraconservative) Nour Party, which he argued are each running for 100 percent of the seats. The chairman said that the Nour Party will not acquire the same amount of seats that it was able to in the now-dissolved parliament where they occupied the second largest number of seats after the MB's party. He predicted that his Islamist alliance will acquire 30 percent of the seats as the biggest alliance running after the Brotherhood's.
