Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Amr held talks on Sunday with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Akmal El-Din Ihsan oghlu on means of alleviating suffering of the Muslim community in Myanmar. Ihsan oghlu, in a statement after the meeting, said: “The Muslims in Myanmar were subjected to inhumane practices”. "They are being killed, forced out of their homes and their houses are being set alight", he added. He discussed with the Egyptian Minister official plans for halting the abusive acts against the Muslim community in Myanmar. The international community should adopt a transparent stance in this regard and the government of Myanmar should take adequate measures to preserve security and safety of the Rakhines. Muslim villages were attacked, recently, by the so-called Buddhist vigilantes from Rakhine State itself. Between October 21-26, last year, more than 30 Rohingya villages and 5,086 houses in the southern state of Rakhine were burned, resulting in the displacement of some 9,000 people.
