The trial of controversial talk show host Tawfik Okasha, charged with insulting President Mohamed Morsi, was adjourned Wednesday until 7 November by Giza's criminal court. The divisive presenter is facing multiple counts of insulting key public figures including the president via his now-suspended TV channel Al-Faraeen. On 10 August this year, following complaints lodged by several lawyers and revolutionary figures, the Egyptian authorities accused Okasha of inciting the violent overthrow of President Morsi. On the same day, authorities ordered Okasha's channel to cease transmission for at least one month. The channel's activities have since been suspended. The recent order for Okasha's arrest followed a similar lawsuit filed by the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party which accused Okasha of inciting violence against the Brotherhood and encouraging attacks on President Morsi, who hails from the Islamist movement's ranks.
