Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hisham Kandil will head to Uganda tonight. The minister will be representing Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the leader of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, at the Great Lakes Summit, held under the auspices of Ugandan President Museveni. A number of African Presidents will be in attendance. “I will meet with the Ugandan Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Water and Agriculture to discuss cooperation between Uganda and Egypt,” Kandil reported, adding that topics will include the clearing of weeds from lakes in Uganda and wells for Ugandan villages. Kandil, said he would meet on the sidelines of the summit the Ugandan ministers of State for Foreign Affairs and Water and Agriculture to discuss areas of cooperation between Egypt and Uganda, especially the second phase of clearing weeds from the lakes of Uganda and the drilling of wells to provide drinking water to villages in Uganda.
