Egypt's trade with COMESA records $2.9 bln in 2018

Egypt's trade with states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) hit $2.951 billion in 2018, with an increase of 24 percent compared to 2017, according to Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
According to CAPMAS, The value of Egyptian exports to COMESA countries rose to $ 1.908 billion compared to $ 1.628 billion in 2017, an increase of 17.2 percent, where five African countries capture 85.5 percent of the total exports to COMESA countries.
However, The value of exports to Libya amounted to about $635.9 million, 33.1% and Sudan about 399.3 million dollars.
While Kenya captured about $354.6 million and Ethiopia, about $169 million dollars.
On the other hand, the value of Egyptian imports from COMESA countries increased to $1.044 billion dollars in 2018 compared to $605 million in 2017, with an increase of 72.6 percent where five African countries seized 93.4 percent of the total imports.
In addition, imports from Kenya amounted to about $ 287.3 million, around 27.5 percent of the total imports to COMESA countries, Zambia captured $ 266.1 million that registered 25.5.
