Egypt's state-owned Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) is close to launch the second phase of the new capital project, ACUD's spokesperson Khaled El-Hussainy said on Tuesday. The most recent meeting between the company and the Egyptian Ministry of Housing witnessed the approval for the green river project as part of the country's initial plan, El-Hussainy added. He also said the President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Parliament, and the Cabinet will move to the the new capital's governmental district within 2020, as per the orders of President. The new Ccapital is the first smart city in Egypt, with plans to build 14 more smart cities across the republic. A French delegation will visit the new capital on Wednesday to witness the public transportation projects, especially the electric train and the monorail, El-Hussainy said, adding that An American delegation recently praised the project and showed interest in new investments. The company has allocated 70 percent of the 40,000-feddan first phase, from a total area of 170,000 feddans. ACUD is the owner and developer for the new capital project, which is located 45 km (28 miles) east of Cairo of on a total area of 170,000 feddans. The company's shareholders; Egyptian government's New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), National Service Products Organization (NSPO), and Armed Forces National Lands Projects Agency.
