Etisalat Offers Best Quality of Data Services... Vodafone Pumps EGP 1.6 Bln Investments
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 16 - 08 - 2012

A report issued by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to measure the quality of internet services during the first quarter of 2012 which ended last June, revealed that Etisalat network won the first rank in maintaining connectivity, followed by Mobinil and then vodafone. This classification was based on the quality of internet services in Cairo.
However, Mobinil occupied the first rank in the rate of downloads, followed by Etisalat Egypt, and then Vodafone. Concerning the rate of internet users, Etisalat won the first rank in all parts of cairo, except the south, which is dominated by Mobinil.
In Alexandria, the performance of the three networks was quite similar with regard to the rate of loading times, but Etisalat won the first rank in the rate of complete network connectivity, while Mobinil retreated to the third rank.
The report also pointed out that the convergence noted between the three networks concerning internet and data services in the governorates of Delta indicates high performance rates, especially in Kafr El-Dawar and Damanhur.
On the other hand, Vodafone Egypt emphasized that it will pump new investments of about EGP one billion and 600 million to support data services on its network this year. This comes as part of an investment plan for infrastructure at a cost of EGP 3 billion.
Hatem Dowidar, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, said half of the company's investments for this year will be directed at supporting data and internet services to meet the expected pressure on the network and seize the investment opportunities that would come up on the long run.
On the other side, Etisalat invests more than EGP 3 billion annually in its network, which is considered the largest volume of mobile network investments in Egypt. In the upcoming three years, the volume of its investments will reach EGP 10 billion.
It is worth mentioning that the third-generation network launched by Etisalat covers more than 91.55 of the areas with great populations, which is considered the broadest coverage for the third-generation mobile phones and highlights that Etisalat is the leading company of Broadband internet in the Egyptian market.
