Eng. Amr Tala'at, CEO of IBM Egypt, affirmed that the company has received about EGP 15 million from Juhayna for developing their technological infrastructure. He added on the sidelines of the meeting held by the company yesterday that the development of Juhayna's technological infrastructure is part of the company's plan to build cooperation with the private sector, and particularly the food sector. He stated that IBM will provide technological services for the 29 branches of Juhayana located in different governorates. The services cover hardware by providing the servers required by the company in addition to updating the programs which connect the different branches together, stressing that the procedures carried out by the company has increased the speed of communication between branches and provided better services for the customers. On his part, Safwan Thabet, Managing Director of Juhayna, said dealing with technology represents a strong pillar of investment that would allow the company to join new fields in the market. He also emphasized that adopting new technologies would benefit the company in establishing better insurance procedures for food on one hand and meeting the market needs on the other hand. 20% of the company's employees rely on new technology to perform their daily tasks, he said, pointing out that the company allocates part of its annual budget for developing the technological sector on a general basis. He confirmed that Juhayana deals with 45.000 direct customers, including 90% grocers, noting that his company uses technological equipments in a number of trucks and lorries. The company also employs new methods of communications with 10% of its customers from sectors like hotels, petrol companies, and others, he said.
