Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is set to inaugurate on Saturday several developmental projects in New Ismailia city, east of the Suez Canal zone, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported. In statements reported by Al-Ahram, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said the president will inaugurate new fish farms east of the canal, including 3,000 tanks in the new phase. The new phase comes nearly a year after El-Sisi inaugurated a major fish farming project in the Suez Canal zone governorate of Ismailia in December 2016, in an attempt to narrow the gap between production and consumption. He is also set to inspect tunnel construction under the new and current canals. The president is also set to inaugurate the east canal's pontoon bridges via video conference during his visit to the projects. Mamish said he would deliver a speech in front of the president tackling latest developments of projects executed by the Canal Authority and the economic zone. He will also reveal the revenues of the Suez Canal during the current year. In statements to the press, Ismailia's Governor Yasseen Taher said his governorate would become the country's economic heartland in the coming two years, following finalisation of major developmental projects, including new road networks, bridges, and the new Suez Canal, inaugurated in August 2015.
