Egyptian Oil Minister Tarek El-Molla met Sunday with Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Takehiro Kagawa to discuss establishing joint projects in Egyptian refining and petrochemicals sectors. Both sides showcased investment opportunities available in different petroleum activities since Japanese firms own long experience and advanced technologies in executing oil projects. Egyptian oil sector is currently implementing an ambitious programme that targets establishing a number of petroleum projects notably in refining and petrochemicals fields. During the meeting, El-Molla and Kagawa emphasised on the importance of deepening bilateral ties as Japanese companies and Egyptian petroleum sector cooperate in offshore drilling fields. Ambassador Kagawa extended invitation to Minister El-Molla to participate in the 27th Energy Charter Conference that would take place on 25-26 November 2016, in Tokyo. The Energy Charter Conference is an inter-governmental organisation which is the governing and decision-making body for the Energy Charter process. It was established by the 1994 Energy Charter Treaty. The charter is considered to be a concise expression of the principles that should underpin international energy cooperation, based on a shared interest in secure energy supply and sustainable economic development.
