Egypt's El Mostakbal for Urban Development will carry out a water treatment plant in its flagship development Mostakbal City, its chairman said on Sunday. Essam Nassif, El Mostakbal chairman, told Amwal Al Ghad that the implementation of the first phase would cost 250 million Egyptian pounds ($28.2 million). The company will offer local contractors to build the new plant, he added. The company will sign soon a contract with the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) based on supplying Mostakbal City with around 300,000 cubic metre of drinking water per day in return for around 2 billion pounds, Nassif said. El Mostakbal has so far paid around 400 million pound to the NUCA, and the remaining sum will be paid over three years, he stated. Mostakbal City is the flagship and largest planned mixed-use development in Egypt's New Cairo district, being developed on an area of 45 million square metres consisting of five phases, where the roads and green areas represent 50 percent of the total area of the city.
