Cairo governorate braces for new road, bridges projects worth $67.5 mln

Cairo governorate is bracing for a new bunch of road and bridges projects at total cost of 600 million Egyptian pounds ($67.5 million).
Ashraf Helmy – head of roads and bridges directorate in Cairo governorate, said the projects are part of the governorate's five-year plan which involves carrying out new bridges, renovating old road networks, and establishing new ones in industrial and residential areas.
The governorate is currently studying funding options needed to carry out the new project, Helmy added saying works on those projects are set to start in 2017 at maximum.
Cairo plans to complete new road projects that will link the governorate with new cities within three months, at cost of more than 50 million pounds, the Egyptian official stated.
