Dubai-based Souq.com, the region's biggest online retailer, announced Sunday a new partnership with Egypt's Communication and Mobile Syndicate (CMS) which will allow syndicate members to sell their products to Souq.com's customers directly through its online platforms.
The new partnership will help CMS members market their stores and sell their products to customers directly on Souq.com while Souq.com has full control of the end to end customer experience and consistently deliver on customer promise in areas of technology, payment, fullfilment, and delivery.
The partnership was announced during a special event held today, where over 150 mobile sellers and CMS members attended and listened to an elaborate demonstration followed by a series of workshops on the business model which will allow mobile distributors to penetrate the e-commerce business through a reliable and experienced business partner, Souq.com.
Commenting on this occasion Omar Elsahy, General Manager of Souq.com Egypt said: "We are delighted to be working with CMS and we understand the important role that the syndicate plays in developing the mobile industry in Egypt. The e-commerce industry will continue to expand throughout 2016 in Egypt becoming a 1.3 billion dollar market. Smartphones will play an integral role as penetration is scheduled to surpass 50% of internet usage, hence allowing expansion of a mobile based experience. We are positive that the new partnership will help us in achieving our ultimate goal of empowering local sellers to open a new revenue/business streams for their existing business. Souq.com aims to provide the CMS members with a new untapped opportunity of leverage to massive customer base, exposure, and technology to reach millions of customers in Egypt."
Elsahy also added: "Souq.com understands that the world is consistently evolving, as are the needs of consumers, who are always looking for reliable and convenient shopping experiences. The purpose of Souq.com is to channel the power of technology to connect more people to more product – unlocking possibilities and improving quality of life across our region. This happens by consistently building trust and reliability with our customers by providing the strongest online marketplace comprised of esteemed strategic partners and sellers that can avail the highest level of value to our customers while keeping Egypt more connected".
Gamil Roshdy, Board Member of CMS said during the event: "Working with Souq.com will help our members reach new heights by targeting new customers beyond the traditional limits of their physical stores, not only in Egypt, but across the region, and we understand that e-commerce is the future of business worldwide".
The new partnership with CMS comes in line with SOUQ's continuous efforts to promote e-commerce marketplace and mobile connectivity across Egypt. Souq.com announced a number of fruitful partnerships with local and international entities earlier this year including Vodafone and MasterCard Egypt.
